KLH UK Attend UK's first Passivhaus Conference
KLH UK attended and exhibited at the UK's first ever Passivhaus conference at Islington Town Hall. The conference included case studies, site visits, workshops, debate and an exhibition of Passivhaus products.
The keynote speech was given by the Secretary of State for Energy & Climate Change, the Rt. Hon. Chris Huhne MP, who called for every new home to be built to the Passivhaus standard.
Mr Huhne promised the introduction of a "minimum standard for fabric energy efficiency" as part of the Government's forthcoming Green Deal. He told conference delegates that the Green Deal would be "underpinned by a strong framework of standards and accreditation - for assessors and installers" and that "eligible energy efficient measures [would] be focused on the building fabric, and [would] have to be installed to the highest standard."
The conference was organised by cuttingthecarbon to raise awareness about Passivhaus among London's planners, building regulations officers, architects and housing associations.
