The Rope Bridge makes it on to the 'Essence of Engineering' list

Price & Myers in partnership with the AJ asked leading members of the construction industry to nominate what they deemed to be the 'essence of engineering'.

KLH UK's very own Craig Liddell's nomination for the humble rope bridge was selected as one of the finalists from an extensive and wide ranging selection of entries.

Craig said that he had chosen the rope bridge because 'it had been used for centuries enabling the movement of man and livestock across what were previously deemed to be impossible or impassable routes - opening up possibilities for future opportunities.  A humble but important feat of engineering and an early illustration of engineering problem-solving.'

An exhibition of the selected nominations for the 'Essence of Engineering' is being shown at the Building Centre, London WC1 from 20 July to 17 August 2011.
