Phase 1 of the Blackdale project comprising two blocks, ranging from three to seven storeys high. A total of 520 units will provide an attractive new residential quarter for the University of East Anglia (UEA), following a pattern of development that is consistent with the original campus buildings and also with the surroundings.

Cross laminated timber was chosen for the superstructure due to its ability to greatly accelerate the construction process and its credentials as a more sustainable method of construction.


All builders work openings were coordinated during the BIM level 2 process and CNC cut in the KLH factory. The project was installed over a period of 15 weeks with up to four KLH UK site teams and cranes operating concurrently.
