Non Fire Spread
Classification
KLH® has with its latest achievement in the construction industry once again proven, that it is a leader in the field of sustainable and safe building materials. The company recently received an important “Non Fire Spread” classification in Poland, which allows customers to use cross-laminated timber elements as exterior wall material in their construction projects.
Since the beginning of March, KLH® – CLT exterior walls have fulfilled the NRO criteria (Nierozprzestrzeniajacym = “Non Fire Spread”) and are classified and applicable as a non fire spreading material in Poland.
To obtain this classification, KLH had to fulfill the requirements of the Polish Standard PN-B-02867:2013, including several fire tests on wall elements with fire influence including a ventilator in the lower part of the wall, a limited temperature at the measuring lances and a limitation of the combustion to a maximum height of 1.5 meters from the lower edge of the wall elements.
The Non-Fire-Spread classification (NRO) is of great importance as it allows the use of construction materials in buildings according to the regulations in the Polish Building Code. The KLH® – CLT exterior walls now fulfill the NRO criteria in case of fire attack from the outside and limit fire spread to neighbouring buildings, even in the construction state, when the facade layers are not yet applied. As a result, they are recommended as safe and sustainable construction materials for use in buildings.
KLH® is committed to make the construction of buildings safer and more sustainable by continually improving and ensuring compliance safety standards.
